This gouache study features an iconic seabird - none other than the blue-footed booby! These unique birds have always captured my imagination, and getting to make this painting helped me to learn so much more about them. Fun fact: female Blue-footed Boobies are larger, have larger pupils, and have bluer feet than males! I took a lot of inspiration from the warm blues of the Pacific in this painting, and tried to convey the feeling of a salty, late-afternoon breeze somewhere in Baja California.
